I’m surprised too, it’s one of my favorite tracks! Happy Friday everyone!
I really just love the vibe to this one, it’s just very bright, as the title suggests! The drums, between the set and all the auxiliary stuff, like the congas and tambourine, provide a lovely bed for everything. I can pick apart all of the instruments, from the acoustic guitar, to the electric keyboard, flute, trumpets, the vocal kicks, bass, and even vibes! It creates a beautiful texture, and with the fusion hip-hop bossa groove, it makes it really hip! I really like how it goes into swing at some sections too! All of the instruments get to have their little ornamented solos, and it makes for a great jam. It fits the stage very well too, I believe, and just sets the stage for all of Rouge’s level music!
Lovely Gate 3 for Egg Quarters? There seems to be a lack of Rogue related music.
I agree completely!
I love the vibe to this one! It’s mixed very well, among other things—check out the bass line! It’s got a very smarmy sound to it. The vocal kicks and melodies are refreshing as well, prominent in all the Rouge tracks. There are horn lines all over the place, especially at the beginning of the chart, and flute toward the middle of the piece when the energy is a little lower. The drums are lightly mixed, with lots of auxiliary percussion going on, and it makes for great color! The comping between the guitars and keyboards is very tasteful, and while there are a lot of instruments going on, not everyone is playing all at once, giving the mix space while still feeling very full. Plus, the samba vibe is great!
